Summer McBride is a proud LA native and advocate for public policy, local government, and union organizing. As a certified parent educator and facilitator of group perinatal care, she works with community based organizations and serves on the LA County African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Planning Team.
Summer served two terms as a trustee and president of the Culver City Board of Education, where she led the creation of the district’s first Equity Strategic Plan. She currently serves on various committees within Culver City including the Equity Advisory Council and the Labor Management Partnership. Summer is a union steward and member of the bargaining team for the Culver City Association of Classified Employees, an affiliate of the California Teachers Association (CTA).
Appointed by Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Summer serves as a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services and is Vice Chair of First 5 LA. She was also selected to serve on Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s Congressional Cabinet.
Summer’s favorite things include family trips, good food, and 90s hip hop/R&B.
