Rachel Brashier serves as Deputy Chief of Staff for Los Angeles City Councilmember Marqueece Harris Dawson overseeing all legislative matters, strategy, communications, and coordinating intergovernmental relations for the 8th Council District. Prior to joining the Council Office, Rachel worked for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a press secretary focusing on housing and homelessness issues Citywide; she also served as a legislative deputy and liaison to the City Council in the Villaraigosa administration. Before joining the 8th Council District, Rachel was the Assistant Director for Community & Local Government Relations at UCLA.

A native Angeleno, Rachel grew up in Compton and Watts, where her family continues to lead community development while advocating for the residents of Watts at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC). Rachel attended Syracuse University receiving a B.A. in Policy Studies and an M.P.A from New York University.
